Community Arts Training
Are you planning a community fun day, lantern festival, carnival, or similar
event this autumn? If so, Carnival Arts Training could be just what your community needs...
Head for Arts can offer a free carnival arts training session to communities across the eastern Heads of the Valleys area – if you can ensure that the training reaches the right people.
The sessions are led by expert community arts practitioners demonstrating how to create carnival costumes, masks and banners, using simple techniques that can easily be replicated in a classroom or community setting without having to access specialist materials or equipment.
The important bit!
These training sessions are for teachers, adults and older members of youth groups in order to help YOU develop skills that YOU can use with your community groups to feed into your own local fun days, carnivals and other community celebrations. The artists will NOT themselves be working directly with the community groups.
You can choose the focus of your training session from the menu below (or something else):
Mask Making Banner Making Lantern Making Costume Making
Recycled Fashion Christmas crafts
Why are we offering this? :Our aim is to embed simple carnival arts skills into your communities to enhance your local events for years to come.
What do you need to do to book a session?
Head for Arts can provide Carnival Arts Training completely FREE of charge, on the condition that you are able to provide the following:
• A venue in which the session can take place
• A group of participants that consists of leaders / key volunteers from at least six different community groups in the area
• Links with a local school and the guaranteed attendance of at least three teachers (you should even consider holding the session from 4pm in a local school so that teachers can use this as a “twilight” INSET training session).
If you are sure that you can provide all of this – give us a call on the number below and we will negotiate a mutually convenient time (subject to artist availability and demand)
