Blaenau Gwent Projects
Community groups will be strutting their stuff on the catwalk at a Fashion Show with a twist in Brynithel Community Centre at 6pm on Friday 2nd December.
Taking a lead from Gok’s Fashion Fix, over the last few months, community groups from across the Llanhilleth Ward have been learning how to create high-quality outfits and fashion accessories from recycled materials.
The recycled fashion project which has been supported by Head for Arts and Communities First was designed to raise awareness of the importance of recycling and has provided participants with tips on how they can create clothes and accessories in a cost-effective way. The project will end in a family- friendly fashion show to celebrate the achievements of all those involved.
Tickets for the event cost £1 per person and the entry fee includes a free soft drink and mince pie. The majority of the items showcased during the show will be available to buy at the Brynithel Christmas Fair which will be taking place in Brynithel Community Centre on the following day (Saturday 3rd December).

EnviroBeat
Young people from the St Illtyd’s ward combined getting active with recording sounds and making music this summer. The EnviroBeat project was run as part of the Reach The Heights programme and was delivered by tutors from Community Music Wales.
Participants walked from Aberbeeg to Ebbw Vale Festival Park, digitally recording the sounds they heard on the way. Following a short break to enjoy the attractions at the Festival Park, participants uploaded and mixed the sounds they had recorded to create their own pieces of music inspired by the local area.
EnviroBeat was delivered in partnership with St Illtyd’s Communities First.
