The Mix
The Mix music scheme run by Head for Arts is in full flow with 50 music projects running across Caerphilly, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen, and Merthyr Tydfil. To date this has included everything from Dj Skills with young Mums to Songwriting with young people from the Travelling Community and a Graffiti and Music workshops in collaboration with Caerphilly’s Basement team.

With projects running throughout the next year (funded by WAG via the Arts Council of Wales) Head for Arts aims to help over two hundred young people on the next step to education and employment. Working closely with music delivery organisations like Community Music Wales and with freelance practitioners such as Cheryl Beer and Lloyd Roberts, The Mix music project is able to reach people from a wide geographic area and with a variety of different support needs.
A core belief of the project is that music can really make a difference, to improve confidence and ambition, to develop skills and self awareness and to give people the courage to go out and take the next steps to employment and education.
